Philosophy:
We strive to be a physician practice dedicated to state-of-the-art care for patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases. We perform most endoscopic procedures including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD), ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and are skilled in the therapeutic maneuvers associated with each.
Dr. Garza received both his undergraduate and medical education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his M.D. in 2000, and chose to remain at Vanderbilt for an internship and residency in Internal Medicine. He received his board certification in 2003, and next completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of South Florida and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida. While at USF, he received advanced training in therapeutic biliary endoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and some of the latest techniques in the diagnosis, treatment, and palliation of GI malignancies. He received his board certification in Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2006.
Dr. Garza has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in the fields of inflammatory bowel disease, swallowing disorders, and esophageal disease. He is a member of the ACG, AGA, and ASGE. Clinical interests include gastrointestinal malignancies, esophageal disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
Dr. Garza currently serves on the Cancer Center Advisory Board at Penrose Hospital. He also holds an appointment as a Clinical Instructor with University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Personal interests include skiing, tennis, cycling, hiking 14ers, cooking, and spending time with his wife and their three children.
