Abstract:
A lighting system suitable for chromatherapy includes a plurality of light fixtures mounted through walls of a tub basin to project different color light into the water in the tub. The light fixtures are operated by a central control unit and each includes a housing having a concave internal surface. An array of light emitting diodes that project different color light is mounted under a cap covering one end of the housing. A lens is threaded onto the opposite end of the housing from within the tub basin to secure the light fixture to the tub. The concave surface has the different color light projected on it, and reflects light out the light fixture in mixed fashion.

Seat Cover Actuated Flushing Mechanism For Toilet

US Patent:
5400446, Mar 28, 1995
Filed:
Sep 27, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/126746
Inventors:
John M. Bloemer - Sheboygan WI
Anton J. Kolar - Sheboygan WI
Jeffrey C. Hildebrand - Kohler WI
Michael J. Kurth - West Bend WI
Assignee:
Kohler Co. - Kohler WI
International Classification:
E03D 504
US Classification:
4408
Abstract:
A flushing mechanism for a toilet triggers a flush in response to the closing of the toilet seat cover. A magnet is attached to the seat cover and detected by a sensor. The sensor activates a battery powered motor having a crank arm which directly raises a flapper valve by means of a tensile link. The sensor and motor unit are suspended out of sight in the tank of the toilet by flanges fitting between the tank rim and the tank top. The flanges allow adjustment of the motor and sensor to a variety of preexisting tank type toilets for effective retrofitting. A delay timer prevents repeated energy wasting flushing of the toilet.

Control System For Pump Operated Plumbing Fixtures

US Patent:
7325257, Feb 5, 2008
Filed:
Dec 1, 2004
Appl. No.:
11/001210
Inventors:
Anton J. Kolar - Sheboygan WI, US
Jeffrey J. Mueller - Manitowoc WI, US
Peter Denzin - Glenbeulah WI, US
Robert Byron Freville - Sheboygan Falls WI, US
Assignee:
Kohler Co. - Kohler WI
International Classification:
E03D 1/00
US Classification:
4300
Abstract:
A plumbing fixture includes a receptacle for receiving waste, a tank for storing water, and an electrically operated pump that conveys water from the tank into the receptacle to flush the waste through a drain. The duration that the pump in operated to flush the waste is altered in response to variation of the electrical voltage supplied to the plumbing fixture. The pump is operated to decrease the amount of water in the tank when that amount is sensed to be excessive. Further operation of the pump is inhibited for a given interval to avoid overheating when the pump has been operating too frequently. The pump is cycled on and off in predefined patterns to indicate different malfunctions to a user.
