Flashlight Holder Clamp Assembly

US Patent:
5062026, Oct 29, 1991
Filed:
Jun 13, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/537447
Inventors:
Anthony Maglica - Ontario CA
Armis L. Lewis - Cucamonga CA
Fred R. McAlister - Chino CA
Assignee:
MAG Instruments - Ontario CA
International Classification:
F21V 3300
US Classification:
362 72
Abstract:
A flashlight holder clamp assembly having a mounting bracket which contains one or, optionally, two elastomeric substantially spherical gripping members having a centrally disposed cylindrical channel therein for receiving a portion of the barrel of a small flashlight and for receiving a cylindrical support member. The gripping members also define a plurality of uniformly spaced longitudinal slots which communicate along their inner ends with the central channel so as to allow the gripping member to be uniformly constricted by the mounting bracket upon clamping the flashlight holder clamp assembly to a cylindrical member, such as a bicycle handlebar. The end of the flashlight holder clamp assembly which contains the spherical gripping member has two or four apertures formed therein to accommodate the portions of the flashlight barrel projecting outwardly from the spherical gripping member and allowing the flashlight to be directed in any one of four general directions, either perpendicular to a longitudinal direction of the bicycle handlebars or in a direction along the longitudinal direction of the bicycle handlebars. The lower portion of the flashlight holder clamp assembly defines a pair of cooperating gripping surfaces which clamp onto the tubular member as the mounting bracket is tightened about the spherical gripping member by a suitable tightening means, or may also have two or four apertures to accommodate the support member and to allow the mounting bracket to be adjusted rotationally about the axis or perpendicularly to the axis of the support member.

Miniature Flashlight

US Patent:
4942505, Jul 17, 1990
Filed:
May 23, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/356361
Inventors:
Anthony Maglica - Ontario CA
Assignee:
Mag Instrument, Inc. - Ontario CA
International Classification:
F21L 700
US Classification:
362187
Abstract:
A miniature flashlight comprises a barrel, a tail cap, a head assembly, and means for holding a miniature lamp bulb. The means for holding lamp bulb comprises an insulated receptacle disposed external to the end of the barrel to which the head assembly is engaged, a second insulated receptacle disposed within the barrel and matingly engaging with the first insulated receptacle so as to enable the first and second insulated receptacles to translate axially through a distance limited by a flange formed on the first insulated receptacle and an annular lip formed inwardly at the end of the barrel, and a pair of conductor members mounted in the second insulated receptacle such that one of the conductors serves to couple the center electrode of a dry cell battery to a first pin of the lamp bulb and the other conductor member serves to electrically couple the second pin of the lamp bulb to the lip formed on the barrel. A spring is disposed between the tail cap and the batteries within the barrel to urge the batteries into contact with the center conductor on the second insulated receptacle, thereby urging the second and the first insulated receptacles in the same direction until the second insulated receptacle contacts the lip on the end of the barrel whereat the second conductor member is in contact with the lip. The electrical circuit is thus closed by use of the barrel, the tail cap, and the spring to couple the second pin of the lamp to the case terminal of the battery.

US Classification:
315307, 315291, 362157
Abstract:
A portable lighting device and method of operating the portable lighting device are disclosed. The portable lighting device is configured to operate using a portable source of power having a plurality of modes of operation. The portable lighting device comprises a main power circuit including a light source, an inertial sensor having a plurality of signal outputs, and a controller electrically connected to the outputs of the inertial sensor and the main power circuit in a manner to permit the controller to enter into a new mode of operation based on signals received from the outputs of the inertial sensor. One method of operating the portable lighting device is by positioning the portable lighting device to one of a plurality of predetermined positions to enter into one of a plurality of modes of operation. Each of the plurality of predetermined positions is associated with one of the plurality of modes of operation.

Flashlight

US Patent:
4527223, Jul 2, 1985
Filed:
May 18, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/611892
Inventors:
Anthony Maglica - Ontario CA
Assignee:
Mag Instrument, Inc. - Ontario CA
International Classification:
F21L 700, F21V 2304
US Classification:
362187
Abstract:
An improved flashlight is disclosed which includes an improved mechanism for selectively varying the light beam intensity and area of illumination, an improved switch means, an improved light bulb and light bulb holder, and an improved manner of retaining dry cell batteries within said flashlight. The mechanism includes a double cam notch in a reflector support and abutting cam follower rotates cooperatively attached to a bulb holder to enable movement of the bulb forwardly and rearwardly relative to the light reflector through rotation of the head of the flashlight. The light bulb is configured to have a double pin electrical connection which plugs into a double socket thereby enabling the bulb and holder to have a smaller diameter encapable of passing through a smaller hole formed within the reflector. The switch is of the rotary type which wipes the contacts clean on rotation to enhance electrical conductivity. The batteries are held within the battery casing so that the front, center contact of the forward battery enters into a recessed area in contact with a spring loaded contact follower, with the front shoulder of the forward battery resting against the switch housing, thereby precluding battery cave-in and enhancing the rigidity with which the dry cell batteries are held within the flashlight.

Flashlight

US Patent:
4286311, Aug 25, 1981
Filed:
Dec 11, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/968468
Inventors:
Anthony Maglica - Ontario CA
International Classification:
F21L 700
US Classification:
362205
Abstract:
A rugged, heavy duty flashlight which is hermetically sealed to prevent intrusion of moisture and dirt. A manually operable electric switch is provided having a rotary contact to complete the battery circuit to the bulb. When the switch is actuated the rotary contact is moved axially to engage stationary contacts and is then rotated to wipe against such stationary contacts to clean the contact surfaces. The flashlight is readily adjustable to change from a narrow concentrated light beam to a broad scattered beam.
