Vehicle Cargo Tailgate Enclosure

US Patent:
2012031, Dec 20, 2012
Filed:
Jan 16, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/351191
Inventors:
Anthony Smith - Costa Mesa CA, US
Assignee:
89908, INC. DBA AMP RESEARCH - Tustin CA
International Classification:
B62D 33/027
US Classification:
296 2611
Abstract:
An improved vehicle cargo tailgate enclosure particularly adapted for ease of installation and removal. The tailgate enclosure comprises two side walls and a rear wall. The rear wall is configured to slope upwardly and rearwardly to provide additional storage space to a cargo bed of a vehicle. The cargo tailgate enclosure further comprises tubular members which comprise a non-circular cross section which provide exceptional strength a structural stability to the cargo tailgate enclosure. The cargo tailgate enclosure further comprises a plurality of upright members. Some of the upright members are configured to attach the cargo tailgate enclosure to a vehicle and to cap the tubular members. Other upright members are configured to support the tailgate enclosure against the surface cargo bed or a tailgate of a vehicle.

Tailgate Access Step

US Patent:
7740261, Jun 22, 2010
Filed:
Oct 25, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/924549
Inventors:
Horst Leitner - Laguna Beach CA, US
Anthony Smith - Costa Mesa CA, US
Assignee:
89908, Inc. - Irvine CA
International Classification:
B60R 3/02
US Classification:
280166, 280163
Abstract:
A retractable vehicle step is attachable to a rear portion of a vehicle or truck. The vehicle step facilitates access to a cargo hold of the vehicle. Advantageously, the vehicle step provides clearance space relative to a tailgate of the vehicle by displacing a stepping member of the vehicle step in a generally lateral direction. The vehicle step desirably has a covered and protected biasing mechanism for transitioning between retracted and extended positions of the stepping member. Another advantage is that the vehicle step is readily attachable to the vehicle using already existing connection members, thereby generally eliminating or mitigating the need for customized retrofitting and avoiding undesirable installation cost and time.

Vehicle Bed Tie Down Device

US Patent:
7549828, Jun 23, 2009
Filed:
Oct 31, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/590251
Inventors:
Anthony Smith - Costa Mesa CA, US
Assignee:
89908, Inc. - Irvine CA
International Classification:
B60P 7/08
US Classification:
410106, 410110, 410116
Abstract:
A removable vehicle bed tie down device comprises a clamp body and a gripper assembly that is securely advanceable relative to the clamp body. The clamp body and the gripper assembly are shaped and configured to apply a gripping force to two intersecting walls of a bed rail of a vehicle such as a pick up truck. The clamp body includes a mount point and a rib that may be formed as an integrated unitary structure with the clamp body, thus providing high strength and stiffness with low manufacturing costs. The rib extends over substantially the entire outer surface of the clamp body and distributes loads applied to the mount point over the entire clamp body and to the gripper assembly.

Vehicle Rail Clamp Mount

US Patent:
7845887, Dec 7, 2010
Filed:
Feb 14, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/031666
Inventors:
Anthony Smith - Costa Mesa CA, US
Assignee:
89908, Inc. - Irvine CA
International Classification:
B61D 45/00
US Classification:

Abstract:
A vehicle rail clamp mount can include a first mount portion that can be engaged with a vehicle rail at any position along the rail. The first mount portion can be positioned to overlie a vehicle rail in transverse to an axis of the rail, then rotated to a position parallel to the rail such that the first mount portion engages the rail. An interlock portion such as a tab on the first mount portion, or a second mount portion can also engage the rail or the first mount portion to prevent the first mount portion from rotating with respect to the rail. The clamp mount device can have a pin or another positioning member to maintain the position of the clamp along the rail. Various accessory mounts can be positioned on the clamp mount.
