When I joined real estate nineteen years ago life was much different. We didn't have internet! We had books of dot matrix listings published with all of our properties in it. Cellphones were in bags. We had pagers which would ring displaying a number that we should call. We would then place a call from the nearest "landline." Agents were scared of fax machines so contracts were delivered and signed and promptly handled. Our industry has changed for the better. Talk about multi tasking! Now, the buyers rule out the houses "online" by pictures, we communicate instantaneously by our cellphones. Agents now have new roles, creative writer, professional photographer, loan teacher and networker to know what is going on the market before it goes on the market. Honestly, buyers and sellers haven't changed much. They want an agent not bother them and will call when they are ready. Customer service is still the #1 priority!
