Work primarily as a Surgical Assistant in all services throughout the surgical theater with the exception of Cardiac. Orthopedics: Total Joints (knees, hips and shoulder), arthroscopic (knee, shoulder, hip and small joint), all traumatic injuries, and spine. All General procedures including laparoscopic, and Davinci Robotic (multi and single site) with the exception of liver and kidney transplants. Ob/Gyn procedures including laparoscopic assisted surgery, DaVinci (multi and single site) and C- Sections. GU procedures including laparoscopic assisted surgery also to include DaVinci robotics. ENT including reconstructive and oncology procedures. Reconstructive and cosmetic plastics procedures to include facial fractures and skull deformities. Neuro diagnostic and oncology procedures including stealth technology, and Neuro spine. Duties include, but not limited to, assisting with procedure/case setup, positioning, surgical site preparation, draping, catheterization, cauterization, suture and tie ligation, retraction, assistance to the surgeon throughout the procedure, closure of fascia, sub Q and skin per the surgeons preference, application of dressings, splints and accompanying the patient to PACU.
