Awards:
Elbert W. Okerman State and Regional Professional Activity Award
American Association of Collegiate Registars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO)
This Award recognizes outstanding
professional activities of the
state/regional associations and
encourages development and expansion of quality professional
activities among state/regional associations.
GACRAO has recently made a conscientious effort to address
the specific needs of the membership by providing mentoring
and leadership development to members new to the profession.
GACRAO has long been sensitive to the discussion of the issues
of professional access and equal representation. As the face
of higher education changed and greater attention was paid to
issues of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and veterans’
status, GACRAO’s Professional Access and Equity Committee
was often called upon to act as a source of information. As
requests for guidance in real-life issues of access and equity
continued to arise, GACRAO responded to the need with the
creation of its W.E.A.L.T.H. Program (Women and Gender Equity
and Access through Leadership and Training for careers in
Higher Education).
