Philosophy:
Dr Andrew Casden is Associate Professor of Orthpaedics Spinal Surgery at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Dr. Casden's surgical specialization includes treatment of herniated discs, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis and degenerative disease of the spine. He has extensive experience in the field of spinal deformity, including scoliosis and kyphosis in both children and adults, and is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society. He also has expertise in minimally invasive spinal surgery (or MISS), which can now be used to treat a great number of conditions in place of traditional spinal surgery. Minimally invasive procedures offer an equally effective result with a briefer hospital stay, a faster and more comfortable recovery period, and a quicker return to work.
While surgery may be required, Dr. Casden also works closely with the physiatrist in his office in order to prescribe a non-surgical treatment that can be highly effective at relieving patient symptoms. Non-operative treatment, including epidural injections, are performed in his office by the physiatrist. His approach also focuses on thorough consultations with the patient as well as other physicians in order to personalize a treatment plan.
Dr. Casden was previously the Associate Director of the Spine Institute at Beth Israel Medical Center and has relocated to the prestigious Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York City. He is available for consult at his New York City office at Mt. Sinai or his Westchester office in Harrison.
