About:
A Savannah, GA native, I moved to Asheville in 1986 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Psychology at UNC Asheville. I worked my way through college working as an assistant to Senator Robert S. Swain, North Carolina State Senator for Buncombe, Madison and Yancey Counties. I continued on to earn a Master of Science in Community Counseling from Western Carolina University in 1996. After working for several years as an Early Intervention Specialist in community mental health, my design talent was recognized by an editor and I was contracted to contribute projects for a Lark Books publication. After publication of the first book, I was contracted to design and write instructions for twenty-four additional crafting books on an array of topics ranging from home décor to general crafting to children’s titles. My first book, Girls’ World Guide to Bath and Beauty, also published by Lark Books, was released in 2004 and re-released as a kit in the spring of 2005. Along with my design work, I also have experience in the management and marketing of vacation rental properties dating back to 1996. I have been a Broker with Idylwood Properties for five years.
