I am a graduate of Central High School here in Kansas City, and I attended Howard University in Washington, D.C. and Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. I am a native of Kansas City, Mo and completed my residency in Internal Medicine at UMKC School of Medicine which utilized Truman Medical Center and Research Medical Center for my medical and Nephrology training. Although I don’t actively teach at UMKC or TMC any longer, I am still an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine there. I have been in nephrology practice since 1982 and I am the senior partner in my 8 physician practice. I am also the Medical Director for one of 10 area dialysis units my group oversees as well as our Home Dialysis Services. I follow my patients very closely and I am more than concerned about the social issues that might affect their health and wellness. I make myself available to my patients and even return calls in the evening when necessary. I routinely attend continuing medical education seminars to keep updated on the latest breakthroughs in my field. I have a special interest in organ transplantation, and educating the community regarding organ transplantation myths. I have participated in many educational sessions for the minority community regarding chronic kidney disease and encourage live donor transplants.
