Filed:
Oct 7, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/961500
Inventors:
Rheid Schloss - Fort Collins CO, US
Blaine Southam - Windsor CO, US
Todd D. Reedy - Wellington CO, US
Roy Johnson - Fort Collins CO, US
Brian J. O'Keefe - Fort Collins CO, US
Scot Greenidge - Loveland CO, US

Martin A. Casillas - Roseville CA, US
Gerald P. Duggan - Fort Collins CO, US
Alassane Sene - Loveland CO, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714 6, 714 41, 711162, 709219
Abstract:
In one embodiment, and under control of resources belonging to a controller domain of a data center, a farm server for which a backup operation is to be performed is identified. Interfaces of backup services belonging to the controller domain are then virtually associated with the first farm network. Thereafter, the farm server and backup services are registered in a backup domain of the data center, the backup domain being associated with backup storage. Via the backup services that have been associated with the first farm network, and during execution of the backup operation by the farm server, movement of backup data from the first farm network to the backup storage is facilitated by the method. After completing the backup operation, the farm server and backup services are un-registered from the backup domain, and the interfaces of the backup services are de-associated from the first farm network.

Systems, Methods, And Computer-Readable Mediums For Accessing Local And Remote Files

US Patent:
2005017, Aug 11, 2005
Filed:
Feb 9, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/775445
Inventors:
Aland Adams - Fort Collins CO, US
International Classification:
G06F017/30
US Classification:
707010000
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and computer-readable mediums for accessing remote files are disclosed. In one embodiment, a driver is used to filter read requests initiated by a client computer. If a file that is the subject of a read request is referenced by a local file system of the client computer, the driver routes the read request to the local file system. If a file that is the subject of a read request is not referenced by the local file system, the driver routes the read request to a remote file system. All requests to write files of the remote file system are routed to the local file system, thereby causing a file that is the subject of such a request to be written to the local file system.

Method And System Providing Access To Application Running On Simulated System

US Patent:
2004000, Jan 1, 2004
Filed:
Jul 1, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/187647
Inventors:
Bryan Jacquot - Windsor CO, US
Cheryl Herndon - Fort Collins CO, US
Aland Adams - Fort Collins CO, US
International Classification:
G06F009/45
US Classification:
717/137000
Abstract:
A system for providing access to an application running on a computer simulation. The system has a first computing device that has a simulation program for simulating a second computing device. On top of the simulation program, the first computing device runs a software application that normally executes on the hardware of the second computing device. The first computing device also grants access to multiple users simultaneously to separate instantiations of the simulation software program and the software application.

Routing Communications To A Storage Area Network

US Patent:
7346802, Mar 18, 2008
Filed:
Jan 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/769371
Inventors:
Aland B. Adams - Fort Collins CO, US
Michael L. Ziegler - Campbell CA, US
Bo Quan - Fort Collins CO, US
Scott Greenidge - Fort Collins CO, US
Assignee:
Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P. - Houston TX
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
US Classification:
714 4, 370351
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and machine-readable media are disclosed for routing communications to a storage area network (SAN). In one embodiment, the machine-readable media includes first program code to determine a route path through a gateway to a SAN for each of a plurality of addresses of an interface of a server. The first program code determines the route path by applying an algorithm to one or more numerical values associated with the address. The machine-readable media includes second program code to configure the gateway with the route paths.
