Method And Apparatus For Removing Lightweight Particulates During Processing Of A Primary Material

US Patent:
6561359, May 13, 2003
Filed:
Mar 1, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/796939
Inventors:
Alan R. Egge - Yankton SD
Stephen Anderson - Yankton SD
Assignee:
Astec Industries, Inc. - Chatanooga TN
International Classification:
B07B 902
US Classification:
209 44, 209 13, 209 121, 209 17, 209 18, 209454, 209455
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for removing lightweight particulates during processing of a primary material. The apparatus includes a classification tank having an inlet, an outlet and a plurality of settling stations located therebetween. A slurry of fluid and particles is introduced into the inlet and directed towards the outlet. As the slurry traverses along the classification tank, particles come out of suspension at the settling stations according to weight and to a lesser degree, density. The composition as well as the quantity of particles at the settling stations is periodically inspected. If particles deposited at a particular settling station are more or less the same size, and if they have accumulated in sufficient quantity, they are discharged to a flume which directs them to preselected collection areas. If the particles deposited at a particular settling station vary substantially in size, which would indicate the presence of lightweight material, and if they have accumulated in sufficient quantity, they are discharged to a different flume or flumes which directs them to a screen or screens prior to directing them to preselected collection areas.

Portable Screen With Raising And Levelling System

US Patent:
4923597, May 8, 1990
Filed:
Jan 13, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/297417
Inventors:
Don W. Anderson - Yankton SD
Robert Eddy - Yankton SD
Alan Egge - Yankton SD
Richard Lewison - Pocahontas IA
International Classification:
B07B 128
US Classification:
209420
Abstract:
A portable screen with a raising and levelling system for raising a frame of the system containing a vibrating screen away from ground on which the system is positioned and for levelling the frame and vibrating screen for improved operation. A wheel assembly rigidly fixed relative to the frame extends from the frame at a first end wall where a first raising and levelling assembly is provided. At an opposite end wall of the frame, a second raising and levelling system is provided. First and second shedding roofs are respectively positioned over the wheel assembly and first and second hydraulic raising and levelling assemblies. With the portable screen having a raising and levelling system as disclosed, the system may be operated on sloping ground and/or ground having undulations and other protrubances.

Sand Tank

US Patent:
6866074, Mar 15, 2005
Filed:
Feb 12, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/778834
Inventors:
Alan R. Egge - Yankton SD, US
Jeffery A. Wendte - Yankton SD, US
International Classification:
B65B001/04
US Classification:
141 98, 141 95, 222 64, 209 13
Abstract:
A tank assembly for classifying and blending sand products. The tank assembly includes a receptacle adapted to retain slurry at or below an upper level. The receptacle includes a feed end having a receptacle inlet, a discharge end having a receptacle overflow outlet, and a pair of side walls extending between the feed end and the discharge end. The discharge end of the receptacle is generally opposed to the feed end. The tank assembly also includes a plurality of upper cross tubes mounted to and extending between the pair of side walls of the receptacle. Each of the plurality of upper cross tubes is disposed above the upper level of the receptacle. The tank assembly further includes a plurality of settling stations mounted in the receptacle. Each of the settling stations includes an adjustable height sensing paddle adapted to control the amount of slurry that accumulates at the station, a discharge valve, and a slurry discharge pipe. Still further, the tank assembly includes a slurry collecting flume extending to and in communication with the slurry discharge pipes.
