Philosophy:
I am a board-certified general surgeon and surgical oncologist. My clinical practice is focused on the treatment of patients with soft tissue sarcomas of the chest, abdomen and extremities. As a member of the Sarcoma Disease Management Team, I work closely with members of the pathology, radiation oncology, and medical oncology departments. Together we draw on the vast experience of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer CenterâÂÂs sarcoma service to develop individualized treatment plans for each of our patients.
My clinical and laboratory research focuses on understanding the reasons why sarcomas develop, why some tumors become increasingly aggressive, and why some patients are at increased risk for tumor recurrence and spread. With the assistance of grants from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and philanthropic funds, I hope that these studies will assist not only in improving our understanding of soft tissue sarcoma, but lead to the development of new treatment strategies for patients with this disease.
