I firmly believe in treating patients like family members. I ask myself "How would I feel if this were my mother, and how would I want her physician to act?". Thus, I take care to educate both patients and their families and am a firm believer in addressing not only the physical, but emotional and spiritual needs as well. My wish is for every patient and family member to feel secure and up to date every step of the way. There is no excuse for anyone to feel abandoned or left in the dark. I also take special care that no negative judgements be made about the patient in terms of medical condition, social backround/financial status, race, or religion. I only refer to those specialists who share my philosophy of placing the patient first and who act promptly and decisively. Finally I believe that the physician-patient relationship is a partnership where both work together on the treatment plan with a proactive exchange of ideas.
