Abstract:
A knot placer has a rod () connecting a handle end () to a working end (). The working end () has a closed leg eyelet () and a slit leg eyelet (). A slidable knot (), formed from a pair of ends of surgical suture () and () is used to join a patient's tissue. The knot () can be transferred through an access port () and tightened at a surgical site () by threading each respective suture end () and () into each eyelet () and (), grasping the handle end (), and pushing the slidable knot () to the surgical site () during an endoscopic surgery. Subsequently, the knot placer can be pulled out of the access port (), and the slit eyelet () can release its respective suture end () or () through the slit (). Another slidable knot () can be tied. The respective suture end () or () can be replaced into the slit eyelet () through the slit () so that the knot placer can be used to transfer and tighten another slidable knot () at the internal surgical site ().
