Dr. Abdul Chughtai has practiced cardiology in Des Moines for more than 30 years. Dr. Chughtai received a medical degree from Liaquat Medical College in Jamshoro, Pakistan. He then completed two years of internships in Pakistan, followed by an internal medicine internship at Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia. He served a residency at the New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, and a cardiology fellowship at the Albany Medical Center in New York. Dr. Chughtai began practicing with Midwest Cardiology, P.C. in 1977; the practice joined Iowa Heart Center in 2001. He is board certified in both general and interventional cardiology, and currently practices at Iowa Heart Center's Laurel office at Mercy Medical Center and our office in Ames.
